English painter. Born and educated in London, Solomon was born to a prominent Jewish family. As a student at the Royal Academy Schools, Solomon was introduced through Rossetti to other members of the Pre-Raphaelites. Solomon was early on influenced by Shakespeare and the Bible, and classicism became a dominant style for him.
