אמן גרמני.נולד בארנסוולד. החל ללמוד ארכיטקטורה במכינה הפוליטכנית במינכן, אך עבר לציור, תחום שלמד בעצמו. המיר את דתו לקתולי ובילה זמן רב באזור ים התיכון. לאחר שבע שנות הוראה בקלן, עזב את גרמניה, השתקע בחלק האיטלקי של שוויץ ב-1931, ולא חזר לגרמניה עד 1948. חלק גדול מיצירותיו, בייחוד בשנותיו האחרונות, קשור לנושאים מקראיים ולנושאי דת אחרים.
German draughtsman, painter and illustrator. Began his studies in architecture at Munich Polytechnic, but soon turned to painting, in which he was self-taught. A convert to Catholicism, he spent much of his career in the Mediterranean environment and after seven years of teaching in Cologne, he settled in Ticino, Switzerland in 1931, not returning to Germany until 1948. Much of his work, especially in his later years, centered on biblical and other religious themes.
